My name is Heather Frost and I am the owner/operator of Barkmore In The Country, Inc. I am a wife and mother of five grown children and last year became a grandmother with another one on the way! I have worked as a Registered Nurse and Certified Case Manager for over 25 years. I love the outdoors and enjoy hiking, running, playing pickleball, riding motorcycles and spending time on the lake with my family. But my first love is dogs!

I have always dreamed of working with pets so in 2008, with two small children and a very small budget, I decided to follow my dream and opened The Barkmore Pet Hotel & Daycare on East Brainerd Rd. in Chattanooga. It was important to me that the business model be designed to provide a happy but mostly safe place for dogs and Chattanooga needed a place for dogs to stay that was more than kennels and cages.

Thanks to our loyal customers who love and trust us with their pets, we have continued to grow. With much prayer and support from my wonderful family and husband Bob, in 2018 we moved to a larger facility on Shallowford Rd. I dreamed of one day owning the land and building for my Barkmore. I’m happy to say that in 2023 we were able to do just that! Not only did we find the perfect piece of property in a “country setting” where the pups can feel relaxed and comfortable but we also built a facility specifically for the pups in mind. This brand new facility was built for the pet's safety, happiness and comfort being the focal point in every stage of the planning, construction and operations. And of course what makes Barkmore the best is our animal loving staff who continue to be there every step of the way.

My love for animals has only increased and I’m so thankful that taking the leap to follow my heart and dream has been blessed.
